The COVID-19 pandemic has caused thousands of cancellations and putting tours and music festivals on pause. Shows and live events are a major source of income for many artists. With a worldwide shut down of many businesses, a financial contribution might be tough for some of you to support artists.
Here are 5 ways you can support artist for free:
Follow artists on music platforms like Spotify. The more followers, the more likely that their music will be considered for major playlists.
Listen to their interviews on podcasts, the more listens, the more likely they will get invited back and get booked for others shows giving them more exposure.
Listen to their music, leave it on repeat, leave it on while you work, leave it on repeat before you go to bed, mute it if you want haha. Just get their streams up!
Watch their music videos, watch their interviews (you might learn some interesting fact about ’em) join their online streams & events.
Share their music, posts, pictures and videos. Don’t forget to tag them and throw in their @ along with any producers, artists, videographers and other creatives who worked on their videos, albums, single, cover art and promo videos.
Like and comment on their posts and videos. Leave reviews on their podcast interviews, rate their music, and engage in their community.
